Seeley Booth would never in a million years ‘fess up to liking a boy band. He’s that guy.

But he’s also this guy–

–and so help me, I will eat that bandana off of his head if you can convince me that Booth never identified with a single lovestruck lyric from these turn-of-the-millennium heartthrobs.  They’re BOY BANDS. Their whole job is to want love, which Booth does, and to maybe make the ladies a little crazy, which Booth also does. You know that “I love you so much it hurts” face? This is how it sounds.

B&B’s mix tape is about to get a little dirty pop. (more…)

Listen Up: The Bones Mix Tape, Volume 5

Ever since “Ho Hey” found its way to the Jeffersonian, The Lumineers have been Bones to me. I can’t get enough of either one of them–which is great, because so many of The Lumineers’ songs would feel right at home on B&B’s mix tape. (more…)

Parks and Recreation Recap: “Two Parties”–The Gettysburg Undress

“You are sad drinking right now, and I need you to be happy drinking.”

Mixing business with pleasure: never a good idea. But “never” isn’t really in Leslie Knope’s vocabulary, is it? She can’t really stop caring about any park, much less the Pawnee Commons, fruit of April’s fertile employment. So when Councilman Jamm reneges on his promise and moves forward with the Lot 48 Paunch Burger (Start Drooling, Fatties), Leslie’s bachelorette party is pretty much doomed. (more…)

Brennan’s life is exhausting. I get tired just thinking about it (and I am NEVER NOT THINKING ABOUT MY BRENNAN,  ok?). That’s part of what makes it so difficult for her to share herself with Booth—she’s used to carrying everything alone—but it’s also what makes their relationship so solid. Booth gives her the opportunity to lighten her load, but he lets her let go on her terms. (more…)

Listen Up: The Bones Mix Tape, Volume 3

Either Ingrid Michaelson gets her inspiration from Bones or she and Temperance Brennan are very similar people. There’s really no other option. Her songs fit B&B’s relationship so intimately that any Booth and Brennan mix tape would be incomplete without them. (more…)

Listen Up: The Bones Mix Tape, Volume 2

Last week, we got to thinking about Booth’s mix tape for Brennan, what songs he might have chosen, and what you’d choose if you were in charge. (We’re all totally in charge, right? That’s how TV works?) This week, let’s look at the music from a few different season finales. Finales always bring out the big feelings. (more…)

Listen Up: The Bones Mix Tape, Volume 1

What’s so romantic about the mix tape?

Chandler and Monica would say nothing. Nothing at all. Still, I think there are a lot of high school flirts who’d beg to differ. On last night’s Bones, a 14-year-old boy left his crush a heartfelt mix tape, prompting Brennan to ask Booth why he’d never made one for her. Booth shrugged it off as the kind of sentimental gesture Brennan has never required—so then of course he made one for her anyway. Aww, these two.

So, serious question: what would be on Booth and Brennan’s mix tape? (more…)
